2014 Tournament Recap - The Rock Valley Golden Eagles Win!

The 2014 NJCAA Division 3 Men's Basketball National Championship has come to a close, and the Rock Valley Golden Eagles have been crowned National Champions with their 79-69 win over the Cobras of Caldwell Community College. Earlier in the evening on Day Three of the tourney, the Brookdale Jersey Blues, last year's champions, played their way into a third place finish in this year's tournament with a win over the Eastfield College Harvesters. The match-up was a rematch of 2013's title game.

The opening day brackets are set. The eight teams who will be vying for the 2014 NJCAA D-III National Championship have earned their trips to Sullivan County, and the countdown to Thursday night is on!

Representing DISTRICT 1, the tournament welcomes the Herkimer County Community College Generals. Herkimer defeated Clinton in their title game, 81-75. Herkimer brings a 26-7 record into weekend play, making their fourth tournament appearance. Their head coach is Matt Lee.

2014 ANNOUNCES FIRST QUALIFIER

The Harvesters of Eastfield College (Mesquite, TX) locked up a tournament berth this week with a win over Richland. They are the first team to qualify for the National Championship in a week that is PACKED with tournaments across the country!

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR EARNS MORE TITLES

SUNY Sullivan’s Director of Athletics & Recreation, Christopher DePew, is also the current Executive Director of the NJCAA DIII National Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. He’s filled that role since 2011 and will do so at least through 2016. Since last year’s tournament, Coach DePew has earned two more appointments of distinction.
